My friend Ben aka Punky aka DJ BennyK made his NYC debut last night, spinning at For the Love Of: Today! Madonna Superbowl Event at Fairytale Lounge in Hell's Kitchen. He was awesome and a fun time was had by all! As I couldn't care less about American football, and as I usually just watch the Superbowl for the commercials, it was fun to go to a Superbowl party where football wasn't the focus. The question I posed: "Do we root for the Giants because we are in NY, or do we root for the Patriots because Tom Brady is hot?" We all agreed it was quite the dilemma, but ultimately decided it was only right to support NY. I think I only looked at the screen when I heard people yelling at it. I'm not sure how I managed to grow up in Texas, where football is like a religion, and be so apathetic towards the game. Anyway, the music only stopped for Queen Madge. Once she appeared on the screen the bar went silent, and all attention was focused on her. This story probably makes much more sense if I mention that this was a gay bar.
